Hi, as you've already realised, my name is Ryan Jackson and, amongst other things, I am a freelance cartoonist. It is a difficult task to sell to such a small market in Victoria, where there is not much demand for 'our type'. Over Australia there are limited opportunities to gain syndication in big name newspapers, as they usually employ a cartoonist to do their work day in, day out, all year round. So, I thought why not tkae a chance on the international market and here I am. I was born in Carlton, 1982, and I was fascinated with cartoons from an early age.

It was not until I finshed my V.C.E ,that I began to do something with my talent. I completed my diploma in freelacne Cartooning and Illustration via the Aust. College of Journalism in Sydney and began to send my work off to newspapers. I must admit, I have only had limited success and I am having problems getting work on a regular basis. I suppose all professional cartoonists have to start off somehwere!
